Geeta Iyengar

Geeta S. Iyengar (born December 1944, in Pune, Maharashtra, India), the eldest daughter of Yogicharya B.K.S. Iyengar, focuses her yoga teaching on women's health issues. Currently, she is the director of Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) together with her brother Prashant S. Iyengar (b. 1949).[1]

Teaching

Geeta's focus is on specific anatomy and physiology of women. Specific asanas, pranayama and sequences are given for different stages in a woman's life including, menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause. Similar to her father, Geeta explains how yoga is used as a method to help relieve pain or suffering that can be seen in a variety of conditions relating to respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system, muscles, epidermis, and mental conditions.[2]
